Expert advice

How to best use T-Trainer

The T-Trainer is not just a tool, but a true bridge of trust between man and horse: for this reason it must be used calmly, progressively and without haste. Always start from the back, an area where the horse tends to be more relaxed, and slowly descend along the body to the legs; soft sponges allow you to simulate hand contact, but with a great safety advantage, always maintaining the right distance. When you reach the limbs, avoid immediately forcing the foot up: It is essential to first accustom the horse to repeated contact in that area.

Only when you perceive it as calm and cooperative can you gently hook the pastern and lift the limb. This approach significantly reduces the risk of sudden reactions, because horses, especially when young, react primarily instinctively: if they don't feel threatened, they tend to trust and cooperate more quickly. Compared to traditional rope techniques, the T-Trainer avoids sudden tension and forced movements that can generate fear or resistance over time.

Here, however, we work towards gradual desensitization, a fundamental element for building solid and lasting training. Even with unruly adult horses, it can be used as a “reset” tool, starting from the basics and rebuilding confidence step by step, often with surprising results. One final practical tip: short but frequent sessions are better than long and stressful ones. It only takes a few minutes done correctly to achieve more stable and long-lasting progress over time.
